Workspace Welcomes New Businesses

The award winning Workspace to support trade and drive economic growth in the Berwick area is exceeding all expectations and welcomed five new businesses to the centre.

The Berwick Workspace owned and Managed by Arch, the Northumberland Development Company helps aspirational high-growth service businesses progress, is attracting interest with businesses moving into the centre from outside the region.

The centre is at 85 % occupancy and have had a number of new clients move in to the centre recently, including Client Admin Services Ltd, Red Yell UK Ltd,  Bullingham group Ltd, Borders Technical Services Ltd and Family Mediation North East Ltd who have all chosen the Berwick based business centre to be based.

One tenant Optimus Accounting Ltd has also expanded moving into a much larger space in the centre building on the accelerated growth achieved at the centre.

Currently 30 of our 35 units are occupied with interest in two more, with the centre currently supporting over 90 jobs and enquiries in the centre have doubled over the last quarter.

The Workspace is also the hub of Business activity in the town with the Berwick Better Business Forum meeting at the centre on a regular basis. The business forum, already has a large following of local businesses and entrepreneurs who are delighted with the move.

Peter McIntyre, Arch Group Managing Director said: “We are really pleased with the continued uptake and churn at the centre with 85% percent occupancy. We have exceeded expectations for the centre which has Just had its 6th anniversary and is an integral and interactive part of the business community in Berwick. The centre’s purpose is three-fold – to generate wealth for the local economy, increase employment and growth for small to medium sized companies. Currently we are achieving in all of these, which is great news for the Berwick area.”

The incubation centre has 35 professional well-appointed units with flexible, low-cost rentals, one-month notices to move in or move out, first-rate meeting facilities and a fully equipped 50-seat conference room.

Purpose built as a facility to help small to medium sized businesses develop further, the centre also offers a unique support service for occupants. The very layout of the building with its shared facilities and amenities encourages networking, inter trading and interaction between like-minded occupants producing a culture of self-development and growth.

The Berwick Workspace is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund Programme 2007 to 2013. The Department for Communities and Local Government is the managing authority for the European Regional Development Fund Programme, which is one of the funds established by the European Commission to help local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support local businesses and create jobs.
